I made most of these in my bedroom, too loud, at the wrong hours, feeling everything.
People kept telling me the songs were a bit much — too earnest, too open, no cool distance. For a while I tried to sand that off. Then I stopped, because the too-much is the whole point. These are dance songs you can cry to, about wanting someone more than is reasonable and saying so anyway. I'd rather be embarrassing and mean it than clever and safe.
There's no big note anywhere on here on purpose. The feeling is supposed to be huge; my voice is just me, close, telling you the truth. Turn it up and dance in your kitchen. Cry if you want. I did.
